Privacy

Updated October 8, 2026.

You can browse public restaurant, event and service listings without an account. Public business addresses and phone numbers are used to help you contact the business.

Accounts and community

When account sign-in is enabled, Ithaca Local Guide uses your identity and email for saved places, plans and community features. Community posts and notices are reviewed before publication. Do not include someone else’s private contact information without permission. Connected account and community data are stored through Supabase.

You can sign in with Apple or with Google. Apple may give Ithaca Local Guide a private relay address instead of your real email; mail to that address still reaches you. When you sign in with Apple, Ithaca Local Guide keeps the token Apple issues only so that it can be revoked if you delete your account, as Apple requires.

Deleting your account: open the account dialog (the profile button in the header) and choose “Delete my account”. Your account, saved places, plans, community posts, comments, photos, blocks and preferences are deleted permanently and at once, and any Apple sign-in token is revoked. Photo links issued shortly before deletion expire within ten minutes. You can also ask by email through the support page.

Business photos and Google Maps

When you request Google business photos and details, Ithaca Local Guide sends the listed business’s public name and address or Google place ID to Google Maps Platform. It does not send your account profile, email, saved plans or precise location for this lookup. Google photos and details are displayed in the current view and are not saved in Ithaca Local Guide’s catalog or your saved places. Your browser or device requests the returned image from Google, which can receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address.

Google Maps features are subject to the Google Privacy Policy. You can also open the business directly on Google Maps instead of loading photos in the app.

Ads, purchases and notifications

Native ads and personalization follow the app’s advertising choices and device permissions. Google AdMob handles ad delivery and consent where configured. The one-time ad-free upgrade uses the platform store and RevenueCat; Ithaca Local Guide does not collect your card details. Notifications follow the categories and device permissions you choose.

Use “Suggest a correction” in the app to report a problem with a public listing. Advertising preferences are available under “Privacy choices.”
